ABS is tough and heat-tolerant: car interiors, enclosures near hot components, parts that need sanding or acetone smoothing. It needs an enclosed printer and more care, so the setup cost is worth it only when heat or finishing is the point.

PETG handles heat, water and sunlight better than PLA. Pick it for anything that lives outside, in a kitchen, or in a humid bathroom.

PLA is the default. Strong, easy to print, and fine for almost everything that lives indoors at room temperature. If you don't know what to pick, pick PLA.

TPU is rubber-like: flexible, tough, and shock-absorbing. It costs more and prints slower, so use it where flex is the point.
